Niebawem ukaże się nowa wersja systemu Data ONTAP - oznaczona wersją 8. Umożliwi ona tworzenie większych wolumenów, co zaowocuje lepszym wykorzystaniem dysków. System ukaże się w dwóch wersjach: Data ONTAP 8.0 7-mode (pdf) oraz Cluster-mode (pdf).
